Yes. The dance major is designed for students to double major and our students are encouraged to make connections across their areas of study. Students should select dance as their first major to be eligible for arts scholarships, but a second major can be added during first-year registration.

Popular majors amongst our students are business administration, communications, marketing, psychology, theatre arts, global studies and social work. A double major with nursing requires overloads and/or additional courses taken outside the academic year. Many students who major in nursing choose to minor in dance.

The average ratio for most studio classes is 15:1.

While most of our dance majors enroll in ballet each semester, we recognize that there isn’t a one-size-fits-all pathway for our students. Students looking to study ballet or take ballet to support other areas of their dance training can do so in our unique curriculum.

No. We believe that dance is about personal style and expression, and the way you dress is an extension of that. With that in mind, we generally assume that you will feel your best in dancewear that is appropriate to your gender identity and the class genre. Our goal is to promote an atmosphere that is body-positive and inclusive for all while also preparing you for professional dance environments.

We do not have a team that performs at our athletic events, but we do have a pre-professional dance company.

Not at the current time. Our company is a part of the dance major curriculum and is specifically designed to train dance majors for careers in dance. Current Salve students interested in the company are eligible if they declare dance as a second major.

Unfortunately, no. Arts scholarships are awarded in the admissions process only.
