Technology Tips

To connect to the campus network, computers must meet certain minimum requirements and have an up-to-date antivirus program installed. If you do not have antivirus software installed, we recommend Microsoft Defender for Windows and Sophos Antivirus and AVG for Mac operating systems. For assistance installing antivirus software, call the Technology Services Center at (401) 341-7777.

Multi-factor authentication adds an added layer of protection to your Office 365, Canvas, Zoom, Webex and Campus portal accounts by requiring a "challenge" in addition to your password when you access your account from a new device or application. This helps to prevent unauthorized access to your account in the event your password is discovered or used by someone other than yourself.

The following documents will help you enable multi-factor authentication:

Accessing email from your Salve Regina computer: Your Outlook client may ask you to re-authenticate. To authenticate, enter your email address (username@salve.edu) and Salve Regina password with your multi-factor authentication challenge response.

Accessing email from MySalve: After logging in to the Campus portal, you will see the Office 365 button on the left side of the page. On your first attempt to access Office 365, you will be prompted to authenticate. To authenticate, enter your email address (username@salve.edu) and Salve Regina password with your multi-factor authentication challenge response.

Accessing email from a web browser: Visit outlook.office365.com/salve.edu. You will be prompted to authenticate. To authenticate, enter your email address (username@salve.edu) and Salve Regina password with your multi-factor authentication challenge response.

Accessing email from a mobile device: Your email client on your phone will prompt you to re-authenticate. To authenticate, enter your email address (username@salve.edu) and Salve Regina password with your multi-factor authentication challenge response.

Office 365 for alumni: For more information on Office 365 for alumni review the information sheet

Office 2016 for PC or Mac: Students, faculty and staff can download the full version of Microsoft Office for up to five personal machines.

Mobile devices can be synchronized with your Salve Regina email account. This includes Android smartphones and tablets, Apple iPhones and iPads and other smartphones. For assistance with Android, Microsoft and other devices, or if you are an Apple user and are unable to reset your password using the instructions below, call the Technology Services Center at (401) 341-7777.

Mobile users can access Salve Regina resources through the Canvas and Ellucian GO apps. Users can access these applications through their device's app store, and should remember that not all of the functionality of desktop/laptop software is available on mobile devices.

The Office of Information Technology maintains a system maintenance window from 5-9 p.m. on Fridays.
